Pablo Picasso designed and lithographed the silhouette of a dove for the World Peace Congress in Paris in 1949. His daughter was born on the evening of the congress, he called her then Paloma (Spanish for pigeon). In 1955 he received the World Peace Prize for his lithography. Since then, the Dove of Peace has been a worldwide symbol of peace and the peace movement.

The motive of the pigeon Picasso has implemented in the following years in different versions. So also the converted “Blue Dove” from 1961.
