Bonnie Parker und Clyde Barrow entwischten immer wieder indem sie die Polizei mit ihrem Ford V8 (Modell 18, Baujahr 1932), der neuesten Entwicklung des Autobauers  bei jeder Verfolgungsjagd abhängten. Clyde soll auch einen Brief an die Ford Motor Company geschrieben haben, in dem er die Vorzüge des V8 lobte.
